I certainly prefer the Brikka, it's closer to an espresso flavor profile. Comparatively, the Moka Express is sharper. Likely due to channeling and under-extracting. This can be remedied by experimenting with dose, grind, and packing but the Brikka's weight seems to remedy these without having to fuss.

With a skilled hand you can get some serious coffee. Now, the moka pot itself. It's constructed of solid aluminum. If you've heard of the rumors of aluminum being bad, don't worry. This is food-safe, and there's no way a successful company like Bialetti will ever let customers buy bad-quality moka pots.

Brikka. It will take a bit more effort to make good foam manually when you use a Brikka, but the quality of the foam will be much better. The Moka express purports to be fully automatic at making foam, but the result is really not that good. Get a milk frother separately.

I love them both, but there's differences between the two. The Brikka has an additional weighted valve that slightly increases the pressure used to create the brew. When used properly, the result is a crema-like layer that's quite lovely.

Bialetti Brikka (cup version) vs Mokka Express of the same size. I have been drinking coffee brewed in a South Indian Drip Coffee filter for a few months now and I like it very much. So somehow I broke my moka pot this morning. I have a brikka (4 cup model) and have been using it for years. I consider it an improvement over a regular moka pot, however it really does not make crema in the actual meaning of the word. The resulting crema like layer you see is really microfoam, maybe also consisting of some components that crema does have.
